What is the difference between BNC connector and RCA connector?

Update:15 Jun 2021

I don’t know how much you know about the difference between BNC connector and RCA connector. There are similarities and differences between the two. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Singo Electronics Co., Ltd. will introduce to you below. Here is what is the difference between BNC interface and RCA interface, so that you can better choose and purchase these two products in your future work.

1. BNC connector
The main function of the BNC interface is to transmit video signals, and the main function of RCA is to transmit audio signals. Different interfaces have different advantages and functions. In addition, due to the special design of the BNC interface, the connection is very tight, so there is no need to worry about the loose connection and poor contact.
The BNC connector is different from the special display interface of the ordinary 15-pin D-SUB standard connector. It is composed of RGB three primary color signals and five independent signal connectors for horizontal synchronization and vertical synchronization. Mainly used to connect workstations and other systems that require high scanning frequency. The BNC connector can isolate the video input signal, reduce the interference between the signals and the signal bandwidth is larger than that of the ordinary D-SUB, which can achieve the best signal response effect.

2. RCA connector
The RCA interface realizes the separate transmission of audio and video, which avoids the degradation of image quality due to audio/video mixing interference. At present, the most widely used interface on audio and video equipment, almost every audio and video equipment provides such an interface.
RCA is commonly known as the lotus socket. Almost all TVs and DVD players have this interface. It is not specifically designed for which kind of interface. It can be used for audio and ordinary video signals. It is also a socket for DVD component (YCrCb), but the number is three. The RCA connector is by far the most common audio/video terminal. The two-wire connection terminal was invented by the RCA recording company as early as the era of the radio. There is also an older and stranger called the "turntable". "Connector.
The RCA terminal adopts the coaxial signal transmission method, the central axis is used to transmit the signal, and the contact layer on the outer edge is used for grounding, which can be used to transmit digital audio signals and analog video signals. RCA audio terminals are generally marked in different colors in pairs: red for the right channel and black or white for the left channel. Sometimes, the center and surround channel cables will be marked with other colors to facilitate the distinction when wiring, but all the RCA connectors in the entire system are the same in terms of electrical performance. Generally speaking, the RCA stereo audio cable is a set of left and right channels, and each channel is a line in appearance.

The advantages and functions of the two:
The main function of the BNC interface is to transmit video signals, and the main function of RCA is to transmit audio signals. Different interfaces have different advantages and functions. For example, BNC connectors can reduce the interference between video signals and achieve the best signal response. In addition, due to the special design of the BNC interface, the connection is very tight, and there is no need to worry about poor contact due to loosening of the interface. The RCA interface realizes the separation of audio and video transmission, which avoids the degradation of image quality caused by audio/video mixing interference. At present, the most widely used interface on audio and video equipment, almost every audio and video equipment provides such an interface.

Precautions:
There is no direct relationship between the BNC interface and the final display image quality of the transmitted video signal. Some people will mistakenly think that the low video quality is not due to the bad BNC interface quality. In fact, it is not the case. Surrounding interference and other factors are related. If you want to maximize the BNC display effect, each of the above factors must be guaranteed!
Of course, the BNC and composite video interfaces are also interoperable, and can be converted to each other through the adapter, and the signal is not lost.
